The SAFRA Company (Société Albigeoise de Fabrication et de Réparation Automobile) was founded in 1955 and is based in Albi, in the Tarn area. The company has a site spanning more than eight hectares, three business clusters and more than 16,000 m² of covered building space. In 2017, SAFRA posted a turnover of 23 million euros and employed 185 people throughout their site.

The Public Transport Equipment Centre maintains the company’s original business in the sector, and now specialises in providing equipment, installations, renovation and heavy maintenance for urban transport vehicles (buses, trams, metros and railway vehicles).

Since 2011, this SAFRA centre has also been manufacturing buses. In fact, the company has developed its own bus: the Businova is an urban bus with a unique design and innovative technical architecture. The vehicle is available in a number of different versions, with 3 sizes and 4 types of motor, each adhering fully to the new directives set under the Energy Transition Law.
